MIYAR VALLEY

Overview

We truly believe that there are no shortcuts to places that are worth visiting. Which is why whether it’s our self drive adventures or walking holidays, we get you out there to explore more. Our walking holidays are designed to suit most people who enjoy getting out there in nature and walk! You don’t need to be an expert trekker to be a part of these.

Miyar Valley is a remote corner within Lahaul which is separated from Zanskar in Ladakh by high mountains and glaciers. Our walk along the Miyar Nala is one of the last few easy treks in the country still undiscovered by many. Our curated walking holiday is as comfortable as the great outdoors can get. With easy walks, comfortable tents, great food and a team which is always there to help, we’ve thought of everything.

The Happyness Company, in collaboration with OneLatitude, brings you this spectacular experience.

We can’t wait to take you on this journey!

Schedule

Leave the heat and hustle behind as you arrive at the lovely Sonaugi Homestead. Rest and rejuvenate yourself after the long drive and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

We start after an early breakfast with a drive through Atal Tunnel and into Lahaul. The objective today is to acclamatise your bodies for the hike. After reaching our hotel, we will head off for a short hike in preperation for the days to come

We start the day with a 2.5 hr drive to Khanjar from where start our trek and enter the cradle of Miyar, vast plains surrounded by tall rocky peaks! You'll soon know why Miyar is sometimes called the Yosemite of India! Today we will cross the beautiful Gompa lake and camp by the Miyar River.

As we enter deeper into the valley, we'll be faced with some stream crossings. We camp at
Zardung - which means "Land of Boulders" in the local language. The landscape gives the
campsite a truly unique vibe.

Today we walk to Kesar Yon Chhap, famous for its seven emerald lakes. It is heralded as a sacred
place to the locals, and offers breathtaking views of the Kang La Glacier.

Today we start our walk back towards Khanjar. We walk back to the magnificent campsite of Zardung. You can't come to Miyar and spend just one night in Zardung!

Today, we make our way to Gompa lake and set our last camp on the vast grasslands around Gompa Lake.

Today is the final day of the trek. We start early and walk to Khanjar where we started our trek. Following a quick break, we will drive back towards Sonaugi for a little celebration and some well deserved rest.

Time to bid adieu to the hills and Himachal. Following breakfast, we can all bid goodbyes to each other until we meet again on another exciting journey.
